The record
Thirteen dated steps, and the ones still to come
ISO records every stage of a standard with a code and a date. This is the full record for the draft, retrieved 2026-10-20, followed by the stages that have no date yet. The stage code is the fact; the date is what the watch follows.
Where the draft has been
| Stage | What it means | Date |
|---|---|---|
| 10.99 | New project approved | 2023-12-22 |
| 20.00 | New project registered in TC/SC work programme | 2023-12-22 |
| 30.00 | Committee draft (CD) registered | 2025-04-03 |
| 30.20 | CD consultation initiated | 2025-04-04 |
| 30.60 | Close of comment period | 2025-05-31 |
| 30.92 | CD referred back to Working Group | 2025-11-19 |
| 30.00 | Committee draft (CD) registered | 2025-11-19 |
| 30.20 | CD consultation initiated | 2025-11-20 |
| 30.60 | Close of comment period | 2026-01-16 |
| 30.99 | CD approved for registration as DIS | 2026-04-28 |
| 40.00 | DIS registered | 2026-04-29 |
| 40.20 | DIS ballot initiated: 12 weeks | 2026-07-01 |
| 40.60 | Close of voting | 2026-09-24 |
The draft was registered as a committee draft twice, in April 2025 and again in November 2025, after the first consultation referred it back to its working group. The second committee draft was approved for registration as a Draft International Standard on 28 April 2026. The DIS was registered the next day, the ballot opened on 1 July 2026 for twelve weeks, and voting closed on 24 September 2026.
What has not happened yet
| Stage | What it would mean | Date |
|---|---|---|
| 40.92 | Full report circulated: DIS referred back to TC or SC | Not recorded |
| 40.93 | Full report circulated: decision for new DIS ballot | Not recorded |
| 40.99 | Full report circulated: DIS approved for registration as FDIS | Not recorded |
| 50.00 | Final text received or FDIS registered for formal approval | Not recorded |
| 60.00 | International Standard under publication | Not recorded |
| 60.60 | International Standard published | Not recorded |
The next recorded event is the full report of the ballot. If the vote is positive, the draft is approved for registration as a Final Draft International Standard (40.99). If it is referred back, the working group revisits it (40.92), and a new ballot can be decided (40.93). Each path moves the planning date, which is why the watch is sold as a subscription and not as a one-off report.
How the planning date is derived
The planning date of 2027-09-13 is 328 days from today. It is an estimate, built from the close of voting on 2026-09-24 and the ordinary path through the approval and publication stages. ISO has not recorded a publication date, and this site does not present the estimate as one. Where the date appears on a page it is labelled an estimate, and the source record carries the same label.
What changes at each stage
- 40.92 referred back: the text is not approved; a further working group round is likely, and the planning date moves later.
- 40.93 new ballot: a second twelve week ballot is decided; the delay is measured in months, not weeks.
- 40.99 approved for FDIS: the technical content is settled; only editorial and approval steps remain.
- 50.00 FDIS registered: the final text is fixed; the window for influencing the content has closed.
- 60.60 published: the guidance is available from ISO, and the preparation work moves from planning to conformance.
